Rougned Odor Signs Five-Year Extension with Rangers

The Texas Rangers and second basemen Rougned Odor announced a five-year, $49.5 million contract extension that will include a club option for 2023. The deal has a maximum value of $62 million.

Odor set career highs in 2016 in hits (164), home runs (33), runs batted in (88), batting average (.271) and slugging percentage (.502). Last year, he became the youngest player in MLB history to hit 30+ home runs whose primary position is second base.

A press conference will be held today at 2 p.m. CDT to announce the deal.
